Allyson Allen, soprano, is a Wilmington native and discovered her love of singing and performing at a young age. Allyson spent her school years participating in chorus and competitive dance, while dedicating her summers to performing musicals with Opera House Theatre Company on the Thalian Hall stage. She attended John T. Hoggard High School and was a member of the esteemed Hoggard Voyagers. During high school she attended NC Governor’s School West for choral music. She was also a member of the NC Honors Chorus.
Allyson attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill and was a member of the premier all-female a cappella group, the UNC Loreleis. During her time with the Loreleis, she had the opportunity to perform and record with the legendary Ben Folds for his University A Cappella album. Allyson recorded with the Loreleis on several of their albums and competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. After graduating with a Biology degree in 2011, Allyson attended pharmacy school at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. She was lucky to enough to return to her hometown in 2015 and now works as a clinical pharmacist at the hospital.
In her spare time, Allyson sings with the contemporary praise band at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and is also a member of the Wilmington Choral Society. She is thrilled to continue her choral music journey with Wilmington Voices. When not performing, you can find Allyson spending time with her husband, Brock, their son, Cambridge, and their dog, Fern.
